Week 7: AI Project Proposal and Planning
Project Milestone
This week is dedicated to proposing and planning your semester AI project.
Overview
During this week you will propose and plan the integrated AI-based project that you will develop during the rest of the semester and present in Week 14. Each team gives a proposal presentation following the guidelines below.
Important
Time allocation per team: about 15 minutes for the presentation, followed by about 15 minutes of questions and answers.
Proposal Presentation Guidelines
Structure your proposal presentation around the following ten parts:
- Project Title and Team
- Background and Motivation: Why is the problem important?
- Problem Definition: What exactly will you solve?
- Project Objectives: What do you want to achieve?
- Data: Source, size, variables, characteristics
- Proposed AI Approach: Models or methods, and the rationale for choosing them
- Proposed Workflow: Input → processing → model → output
- Evaluation Plan: Metrics, baselines, validation strategy
- Expected Contribution and Challenges: Expected value, novelty or benefit, anticipated limitations or difficulties
- Work Plan and Team Roles: Timeline, task allocation, responsibilities
At this stage the emphasis is on a clear problem, realistic scope, and a concrete plan. Results are not expected yet; the final outcome is presented in Week 14 following its own guidelines.
